A Lifetime of Toro

Old model of Toro push mower with green blades

My father started his business as a Toro Dealer in 1948. My earliest recollection of Toro was assembling new mowers in the early 1960’s. Some of the mowers I assembled would include the 50th anniversary’s Golden Whirlwind. My father’s all-time favorite mower was the 76″ Toro Professional.

Until his passing in 2006, my Father used the 76″ Professional for his home lawn. I still own his 76″ Professional and the two back up mowers my father had. I cut my own hilly lawn with a Toro Groundsmaster that was once owned by the USGA.

About 20 years ago, I started collecting Toro products. As I say “I am buying the equipment I sold for scrap decades ago.” My oldest products are a late 1920’s Toro push greens mower and the push-type Silver Flash. My most unusual Toro is a Tennis Court Roller, a riding Golf Cart, and power Jointer that my father used in all of his building projects (one of Toro’s woodworking tools). My collection contains Park Specials, Star Lawns, a Continental engine powered Homelawn, a Clinton engine Powered Whirlwind, and a new never used Flymo. I no longer sell Toro mowers; however, we use Toro Dingos and other Toro equipment in our Rental Business.

Toro has been a part of my life, all my life, and I am 59 years old.
