A Toro Family

Jeff Young
Bloomington, MN

My dad, Irving Young, a production control supervisor, and uncle, Dennis Larsen, both worked at Toro during the 50s, 60s, and 70s. I grew up across the street from Toro’s headquarters in Bloomington, and often would walk through the plant to bring my dad lunch or dinner depending on his shift. This picture is from the Minneapolis Star Tribune in 1962 when they covered Toro’s Bloomington ribbon cutting and grand opening ceremony. I am the one pictured on the left. I have my 1991 Toro snow blower (model 521), which I purchased new and still runs like the day I bought it. The only thing I had to do besides normal maintenance was to replace the fuel valve a couple of times and the starting/pull rope about three years ago. I’ve lived in Bloomington for roughly 55 of my 60 years and still reside here.
